Core Tasks
In your role, you are responsible for the technical, substantive, and organizational implementation of a project’s measures and activities. In consultation with your line manager, you also undertake tasks related to project planning, steering, and monitoring, including, in some cases, project administration tasks. You are also responsible for providing technical support to colleagues in bands 2 and 3 and ensuring the quality of the commission’s outputs.
In addition, you contribute to the conceptual design of the project, in particular its modification or realignment, and are partly responsible for general project management tasks.
Main Activities
Lead the design, implementation, and quality assurance of workstreams, deliverables, technical trainings, and workshops.
Provide technical expert guidance and deliver technical trainings/workshops on sustainable finance and climate finance topics and instruments (carbon pricing, credits, markets).
Draft and review Terms of Reference (ToRs), supervise consultants, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
Oversee project management: set milestones, monitor progress, ensure timely reporting, and maintain budget compliance.
Track indicators and oversee the preparation of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and progress reports.
Represent the project in high-level stakeholder engagements (financial institutions, regulators, private sector, donors) and lead strategic outreach.
Conduct and supervise research and evidence synthesis, and translate findings into actionable recommendations and capacity-building materials.
Provide technical mentoring/coaching to other staff members and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
Requirements
Advanced degree in finance, economics, sustainable development, public policy, or a related field.
10+ years of professional experience, including substantial experience in the financial sector (banking, investment, capital markets) and demonstrated work on sustainable finance and climate finance instruments (carbon pricing, markets, pricing mechanisms).
Proven track record of advising private sector actors, financial institutions, or governments on finance-related climate/sustainability policies or instruments.
Strong project management skills and extensive experience leading cross-functional teams, producing high-quality policy and technical outputs.
Strong stakeholder engagement and presentation skills; experience in public–private dialogue is desirable.
Fluency in English, both spoken and written (C2 level); knowledge of German is an asset.
Proficiency in computer skills, with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint) and Outlook as relevant to the position.
Strong communication and coordination skills, planning and organizational abilities, accountability, teamwork, and a willingness for continuous learning.
