Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Sustainable Energy Finance (SEF) Lead, as a member of the SEF Unit within the German Indonesian Energy Team, contribute to an integrated and programmatic approach in delivering advisory services to partners beyond project boundaries.
Support the design and implementation of technical and strategic advisory activities, as well as capacity development initiatives tailored to the needs of political partners and aimed at accelerating Indonesia’s energy transition.
Support the analysis and benchmarking of international MRV/V&V standards, institutional models, and regulatory approaches to identify best practices relevant to the national context.
Participate in gap assessments and institutional analyses through the structured preparation of existing national regulations, mandates, competencies, and the roles of key actors in the fields of MRV, verification, and accreditation.
Support the screening of potential national V&V bodies through research, stakeholder mapping, and comparative assessments of possible institutions in terms of suitability, competencies, and development needs.
Contribute to the preparation, organization, and documentation of meetings, workshops, conferences, and technical exchanges with both public and private stakeholders.
Assist in drafting technical reports, presentations, policy briefs, and in the conceptualization and preparation of Terms of Reference (ToR) for external consultants, while ensuring the quality assurance of deliverables.
Monitor and summarize relevant technical and policy developments in Indonesia’s power sector, particularly those related to financing the energy transition and international best practices. Also contribute to maintaining and strengthening relationships with key partners under the guidance of the respective Lead(s).
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering, climate science, public finance, energy & environment, sustainable development, or other related fields. A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Working experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency, climate finance, sustainable finance, development cooperation, and/or public policy in the energy sector.
Strong understanding of Indonesia’s carbon landscape, energy sector (including the power sector and renewable energy integration), industry, and relevant stakeholders.
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to energy consumption, finance, and carbon emissions. Relevant certifications in carbon management and carbon economic value are considered an advantage.
Familiarity with international MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) and V&V (Validation & Verification) standards.
Strong conceptual and strategic thinking skills, including the ability to summarize complex developments into actionable recommendations, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills in both English and Bahasa Indonesia, along with strong report-writing abilities.
Previous experience in procurement processes and the management of external and international consultants.
