Core Task

In your role, you are responsible for the technical, substantive, and organizational implementation of a project’s measures and activities. In consultation with your line manager, you also take on tasks related to project planning, steering, and monitoring, including, in some cases, project administration tasks. You are also responsible for providing specialist support to colleagues in bands 2 and 3 and ensuring the quality of the project’s outputs.

Main Activities

In close collaboration with a training advisor and under the supervision of the implementation manager as well as the line manager, the Renewable Energy Cooperation Advisor performs (but is not limited to) the following tasks:

  • Support operational planning, preparation of project activities, deadlines, and budget estimations, and coordinate activities closely with other team members, private sector partners, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Provide strategic, technical, conceptual, and administrative inputs to achieve and ensure the quality fulfillment of project indicators. This includes technical content development for upskilling strategies, concepts, teaching and training materials, organization of workshops, as well as drafting project reports and communication documents.

  • Liaise with and provide technical renewable energy advice to private sector counterparts, ensuring that all project outputs are relevant to and aligned with their priorities.

  • Support the development and updating of short-course training offerings in selected renewable energy fields, communication formats, and project reports.

  • Organize consultations, identify renewable energy sector-led initiatives and private sector partners interested in project activities, establish contacts, and facilitate communication and cooperation among them.

  • Document lessons learned as a basis for formulating policy recommendations and promoting future-oriented, industry-led human resource development for the energy transition.

  • Prepare and conduct project missions and field visits to pilot regions in accordance with the requirements of the area of responsibility.

  • Assist the Cluster Coordinator and Country Director on overarching issues related to the implementation of GIZ corporate strategy (e.g., Vision 2028).

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (BSc/MSc; BA/MA) in energy, climate, sustainable development, environment, engineering, or any field related to the energy transition.

Professional experience

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in development cooperation, providing technical assistance to government agencies and the private sector in the field of renewable energy.

  • Good knowledge of the renewable energy landscape in Indonesia, preferably in relation to human capital development in renewable energy projects.

  • Prior experience working in the private sector in the renewable energy field is an advantage.

Other knowledge, additional competencies

  • Soft skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, mediation, pragmatism, and diplomatic skills are essential.

  • Excellent working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (e.g., MS Office, applied renewable energy software, etc.).

  • Language skills: excellent English and Indonesian required.

  • Strong analytical skills as well as excellent organizational skills; efficiency, accuracy, and high-quality delivery of all work outputs; results- and performance-oriented; and a team player.

  • Extensive network in the renewable energy sector.
